Abstract

This study examined the factors responsible for poor implementation of Economics Curriculum in public secondary schools in Katagum Local Government Area Bauchi state. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design with the sample of 155 respondents that were purposefully selected from13 Public Secondary Schools in the study area. A 25-item questionnaire developed by the researchers was used to collect data from the sampled respondents. The instrument was validated by expert and has the reliability coefficient of 0.84 using Cronbach`s Alpha reliability test. The responses obtained were analysed using mean and standard deviation to answer the three research questions. The study found that institutional factors, teachers' related factors and students' related factors were responsible for poor implementation of Economics curriculum in the study area. It was recommended among others, that Government, schools' proprietors, teachers, parents, Parent Teachers Association, Nongovernmental Organizations (NGOs) and other stakeholders should join hands in providing lasting solutions to the problems that hindered effective curriculum implementation in the study area
